A qualified complementary therapist on a mission to make salt therapy accessible, calming and part of everyday wellbeing.
My name is Jane, and I am the founder of The Salt Pod, a halotherapy service created to make salt therapy accessible to people of all ages as part of their approach to health, relaxation and wellbeing.
My background is in complementary therapies. I am a qualified hypnotherapist, complementary therapist and Reiki practitioner, and I have always been passionate about natural and holistic approaches that support the mind and body.
My journey into salt therapy began through personal experience. While caring for an elderly lady living with dementia, I saw how difficult repeated chest infections could be. She suffered from frequent infections and courses of antibiotics, which led me to explore complementary approaches that could support her wellbeing. After introducing her to salt therapy sessions, I noticed a remarkable improvement within just a few sessions. She subsequently experienced far fewer infections and no longer needed antibiotics for them.
During my time attending salt therapy sessions, I met people from all walks of life. I heard stories from parents of children with skin concerns such as eczema, as well as adults living with respiratory conditions including COPD. Seeing how much people valued their sessions and hearing about the difference they felt it made inspired me to learn more about halotherapy and its potential as a complementary wellness practice.
It also became something very personal to my own family. My daughter has two young children who attend nursery, where coughs, colds and bugs can naturally become part of everyday life. We began using salt therapy regularly as a preventative and supportive part of their wellbeing routine, rather than simply waiting until they became unwell.
For our family, it became another natural way of supporting their respiratory wellbeing alongside good everyday health practices and appropriate medical care when needed.
I once heard salt therapy described this way — a simple way of explaining the idea of using salt-rich air to help clear away some of the everyday nasties we encounter. While it isn’t a replacement for medical treatment, I love this analogy because it captures the way many people think about incorporating salt therapy into their regular wellness routine.
When I began looking for this kind of service closer to home, I was surprised to discover that there were very few halotherapy services available in Gloucestershire. I saw an opportunity to bring this experience to local families and communities in a comfortable, convenient and welcoming setting.
And so, The Salt Pod was born.
My aim is simple: to make halotherapy accessible to more people and to create a calm space where individuals and families can take time for themselves, breathe deeply and incorporate salt therapy into their wider approach to health and wellbeing.
